Delhi Rape Case- Court Verdit - " I sentence you to be released to death....."

Delhi Rape Case- Court Verdit - " I sentence you to be released to death....." Cartoon.

It says, the rule of the law must apply equally and without discrimination. That is to say, the rights of the victim and the rights of the accused should be considered equally and with dignity, But here we see the laws are wee bit unfair towards the victim. I think the law makers of our country should not have any trouble with this simple logic. Why should juveniles be treated differently for a heinous crime when the pain, terror and trauma they inflict on the body and in the mind of an innocent victim is no different to what their adult counterpart would do. A criminal committing such an act should not be treated as a juvenile when the seriousness of such crimes they are committing are every bit as ghastly as adult crimes.,....!

Reciprocity

Reciprocity ...

It was only drouth all around
And you made us all feel special
With your flamboyance,
The music and dance.
Such deep affection
Soul inspiring harmony
With which we spent our days together..!
Such deep compassion and love
To feel each others pain and glory
In our heart we lived.
What if now the glitter has faded a little
Whispered the shrub
So quietly in his ears
Hold your head high and stand tall oh dear.
We are all here, who think
As much of you, as you do.

P.S :- Just chanced upon this picture of a lovely peacock on my way to Chokkanathanputhur, a small reticent village in the outskirts of Rajapalayam. He was without his magnificent plumage. But how well placed are those shrubs in the background, it seemed as if they are compensating the flamboyance that's faded from their handsome companion....

KODAIKANAL VISIT - Braving the rain

KODAIKANAL VISIT - Braving the rain

Rain is always nice.  A long drive through some hilly terrain covered with thick vegetation and you are singing to the top of your lungs all the wrong lyrics of the song “Yeh Wadiyan Yeh Fizayein bula rahi hain”  is even more nicer. But just imagine you are winding up steep grades to a place known for its chilly temperatures and suddenly the rain started pouring down heavily and you could not find a tree or a shade to hide under… I know you gonna carry on, hoping that it will soon stop simply because we are in the habit of becoming more optimistic when caught between the devil and the deep blue sea,  under normal circumstances.

Yesterday, my young friend Varun Choudhary and I decided to take a road trip to Kodaikanal on a motorcycle. Idea being so spontaneous, we did not have the time to prepare much for the journey. So this is how that interesting story went. …

Dawn hadn’t yet broken but we were already on the road. The spectacular view of  River Vaigai once again flowing at full force was indeed a wonderful way to start our journey. What else could we wish for…But, as the saying goes, unfortunately our journey was little more dramatic than we would have liked.
We left Vaigai after taking some wonderful pictures and started moving towards ‘Paravai’. There we stopped briefly at a small petrol pump to refuel our motorcycle. After an hour of driving through the breathtakingly scenic Dindigul national highway that traverse through some of the most attractive stretches of Western Ghats, we reached ‘Nilakottai’.
The weather was perfect and pleasant.
A few more kilometers towards Vattalakund, we watched in dismay as large black clouds started building up at a distance along Western Ghats. We thought it would be fine but that was just a warning as it started drizzling by the time we reached Vattalagund. We had our breakfast at Meenakshi Bhawan and waited for the rain to stop. Once we found the tiny droplets are just not heavy enough to block our way, we got back on the road again for the next leg of our journey. But we were wrong. As we continued in the direction of the clouds, suddenly it started pouring down heavily. That forced us to stop our journey and hole up in a small abandoned shop somewhere near ‘ Ganguwarpatti’. After almost fifteen minutes spent there, it finally got to the point where it looked a wee bit secure to venture out again. Few minutes later, we found the rain was getting stronger and stronger and by the time we reached that huge board showing “ Kodaikanal Wildlife Sanctuary Welcomes You”, we were hit by a massive deluge of rain  attacking us unrelenting from all directions. With heavy rain drops hitting my helmet, it became extremely difficult to see what it’s really coming out there from the front.  It was all fogged up from inside thereby hindering the view almost completely. Steep tarmac was slippery at many places. Negotiating those hairpin bends with my visor holding thousands of tiny droplets and each one acting as a concave lens was indeed tricky. Now things had become downright dangerous. I was in fact shivering. I just kept on trying to relax my hands as it was getting difficult to control the bike. There was another impending danger of falling trees too.
By the time we reached “Thalaiyar” falls, the first pit stop which is about 13 kilometers away from Kodaikanal, we made that much difficult decision to abandon the journey. After a couple of cups of hot tea from a small shop nearby, we got back on the road for the start of a long return back home . Another three hours rain drive and we reached Madurai.
Sometimes we have to face the forces of nature and the oddities of the weather. But this was by far the longest “rain drive” that I’ve ever experienced in my life. Certainly an incredible experience though, perhaps  the one that I would like to repeat again……Thank you  my dear friend Varun for everything that you did to navigate me along this journey…..
This is drafted in a hurry…….Please excuse typos/ grammos errors……………

Latest news in today’s newspapers……..” Vehicular traffic was disrupted on several roads, including the busy Batlagundu-Kodaikanal Road on Sunday after several trees fell due to a landslide.”

High Power Kaadhal

Sometimes it's just plane fun to try private buses, especially when you are traveling through Tamil Nadu's rural expanse. Most buses play loud music and their drivers blast horn incessantly creating a cacophony that make an assault on your audioception. I knew, the situation would be no different today when I boarded a private bus from Dindigul to Madurai while coming back from Ponnagaram. Surprisingly, it was not music this time. Playing on the screen was a Tamil movie whose name I got from a small school boy sitting next to me. "Kaadhal" (Love), a Tamil Romantic drama film.....; Watching his uncontrollable giggling over the smallest humor, romance or passion while gawking at the screen, I thought he will definitely miss his destination.
Anyway, the only thing I found annoying was the high power sound box affixed right under each and every seat inside the bus. Its most insufferable and terrifying sound effect was mercilessly battering not only my ears but also my brain and bum cells. For all I know, I was genuinely scared about the possibility of an explosion or a terrible accident in the movie which is nowadays seen as an essential ingredient needed to cook up a successful movie.

No wonder, the school boy frowned at me when I laughed out loud a wee bit, imagining the sight of these people freaking out as they watches "Apocalypse Now" , " Terminator -2" or "Indiana Jones" next time......

A Free Smile Please.........

A Free Smile Please.........

Just had a cold shower and a quite dinner alone in front of television, watching the highlights of India- South Africa test match. Feeling fresh after a long 140 Kilometer Motorcycle ride to Sendurai, a tiny, remote village in Dindigul district where I had to visit one of our branches. I love such motorcycle journeys through pristine landscapes enjoying the scenic village roads that piggyback along western ghats. Quietly situated on the edge of Parali, a serene village in the Natham-Madurai Highway, I found this small restaurant owned by a poor man whose name I forgot to ask. He was all smiles as he came down to ask me what I would like to take. It was a beautiful late afternoon, so I ordered for a Dosa. It was so delightful and tasty….
I’ve been so fortunate to stay in many great hotels around the world. Some of them are arguably among the ten best in the planet. But then at the same time I’ve also dined at many small and crampy hotels like this one in picture. One big difference I always notice between service in big hotels and in hotels like this one is that, in big hotels, they are effectively “paid” to smile at customers……

Right Now, I'am Living A Life.......

To Relive Is To Remain

To Relive Is To Remain

To Relive Is To Remain

I gazed at them

Through the foliage of infectious laughter,

Pretty trifles, those cherished little fantasies,

Lost loves unseen and unheard,

Promises made in the shallow air,

All farce definitions of longevity beyond death,

That sprawled across my college

I left long long ago…..;

I stood there until a faint rain

Played on me a soft tune of hope

And devoured the wrinkles in my heart.

There, on that divine garden,

I shed the mantles of senility…….!

P.S :-  I'am graduated from one of the most scenic colleges in Kerala, The Mahatma Gandhi College , Trivandrum. Nostalgic memories come flooding in whenever I think of my college days and it always elicit a smile and of course, sometimes a good laughter too. It's an awesome feeling to go years back cherishing the sweet memories of those days, which according to me, can never be swapped with anything we achieved later in our life...................
