Good Samaritan at Nagerkovil

Good Samaritan at Nagerkovil

For many of you this may sound corny, but I can't resist sharing with you this small incident that happened at Nagercoil bus stand just now. Let me narrate it concisely as possible as it's too difficult for me to type on this small sony xperia virtual key board sitting on a moving bus and that too in pitch darkness. Okay let this be yet another interesting experience to add to my habit of extemporisation...
I was having only 250 bucks in my wallet when I left my house to board a bus to Madurai this evening after completion of my hectic Trivandrum assignment . My plan was to withdraw some money from the Indian Overseas Bank ATM available just opposite to the Thampanoor bus stand. But things took an unexpected turn when I reached the bus stand and found my bus to Madurai was ready to leave. All my pleas to the conductor sab to wait for a couple of minutes went unheard. With that exact amount of rupees 250 needed for the ticket to Madurai, I boarded the bus unwillingly. Not a single penny left in my wallet, now I'am more concerned about collecting my motorcycle which I had placed in the payment parking bay at the Madurai bus stand before leaving for Trivandrum almost a week ago. Landing in the wee hours at Madurai and searching for an ATM, I thought, would not be an easy task. So I've decided to give it a try to find an ATM at the Nagerkoil bus stand itself once the bus reaches there. As soon as the bus stopped at Nagerkoil, I rushed outside the bus stand in search of an ATM. As I could not find any ATM in the near vicinity, I asked a gentleman standing near the taxi stand as to where I could find an ATM. Sensing my urgency, he gestured me to climb into his motor cycle and without asking me anything, took me to a nearby ATM. He patiently waited for me to finish my job and then dropped me back at the bus stand where I found my bus was just about to leave. His name was Edward...While getting into the bus, I could only say a heartfelt thanks to him. He just smiled back and left. Dear Edward, if you happen to read this...please accept a warm hug from me which I could not give you then and there. Instead of casually showing me the street where the ATM is available, you took me there, waited for me and yes, helped me to reach back just in time. God bless you young man....!
Being helpful to others is an attitude. It's about putting someone else before your own comforts. When you offer somebody a help even when it takes some precious time of yours, you are in turn making one more person a better human being who will act similarly to someone else, some other day. And yes, in this lovely planet, someday somewhere, everybody meet someone of this class like Edward to remind you that there is enough humanity left in this place..............And on that note, I Wish you all a very Happy New Year from this moving TNSTC bus..

In my limited wisdom, what I feel is that, when it comes to International relations and diplomacy, bilateral visits of world leaders depends on that particular country's national and international obligations and requirements. But anyway, it's not not something that you normally associate with your new year resolution. ......
